This city, famous in many ways, is undoubtedly worth the detour: capital of the Camargue, major city of Provence, seaside resort and high place of pilgrimage for gypsies from all over Europe, marked by the authentic natural spaces of marshes and ponds, an omnipresent bullfighting tradition and scene of very many folkloric and traditional festivities which take place there each year.

Culture lovers will enjoy a visit to the town: discover the Romanesque fortified church and its crypt dedicated to the patron saint of gypsies, Saint Sarah; visit the Marquis Baroncelli's house-museum, which traces the history of the Camargue and relates the daily life of the inhabitants of this region, rich in character; enter the arenas of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer to discover an emblematic place of French bullfighting.

November 11: Abrivado Festival with bulls and horsemen on the beach.

December (1st weekend): Pilgrimage with city processions and ceremonies.

Natural park



We are located in the heart of the Camargue Regional Natural Park, renowned for the diversity of its fauna and flora.

The protected sites then allow you to discover the unique riches of the region: flamingos and other species of seabirds, salt marshes, rice fields, numerous ponds, etc.
